Andy Warhol Superstar
Die Sammlung präsentiert eine Gruppe von Fotografen, die Warhols Leben und die Aktivitäten in seinem berühmten Studio, der Factory, und an Orten der New Yorker Szene der 60er, 70er und 80er Jahre dokumentieren, und zwar von Fotografen, die diese Szene miterlebt haben:
Ben Buchanon, Billy Name, Christopher Makos, Nat Finkelstein, Leee Black Childers, Marshall Swerman usw., Menschen, die in die Szene eingetaucht sind, dokumentiert auch viele Menschen aus New York, die einst als Außenseiter galten und mit Andy Warhol befreundet waren: Jean-Michel Basquiat, Divine und die „Super Stars“, um nur einige zu nennen.
Die Sammlung enthält darüber hinaus eigene Fotografien von Andy Warhol.
Es ist ein Insider-Blick auf eine Zeit explosiver Kreativität, in der alles möglich schien. Es ist der Blick eines Insiders auf einen Ort, der so nicht mehr existiert. Diese Menschen, diese Künstler – viele von ihnen Hobbyfotografen – dokumentierten, was geschah, und zwar nicht aus beruflichen Gründen, sondern aus echter Freude am Teilhaben an ihrem Umfeld… sie waren das Umfeld.

The collection presents a group of photographs which documents Warhol’s life and the activities at his famous studio, the Factory and at places of the New York scene from the 60s, 70s and 80s by the photographers who lives it:
Ben Buchanon, Billy Name, Christopher Makos, Nat Finkelstein, Leee Black Childers, Marshall Swerman, etc., people who were immersed in the scene, also documents many people from New York who were once considered outsiders and were friends with Andy Warhol: Jean-Michel Basquiat, Divine and the „Super Stars,“ to name a few.
The collection also includes Andy Warhol’s own photographs.
It is an insider’s look at a time of explosive creativity when anything seemed possible. It’s an insider’s look at a place that no longer exists like this. These people, these artists-many of them amateur photographers-documented what was happening, not for professional reasons, but for the genuine joy of being part of their environment…. they were the environment.
