The expressive realist Pierre Boffin, a German-French artist, studied in Paris with Antoni Clavé and at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs after teaching himself the basics, and later with Henry ten Holt in Bergen and at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Professor Sackenheim.

In his works, Boffin intensively explores the human figure, combining inner emotion with outer postures in suspenseful pictorial compositions. His painting moves between landscape, figure, and stage—often with deep symbolic meaning. He also treats erotic themes with a multi-layered view between sensuality and social commentary.

An expressive colorist and experienced graphic artist, he worked with techniques such as woodcut, linocut, lithography, and oil painting. From the 1940s to the 1980s, he showed his works in numerous exhibitions in Paris, London, Geneva, Brussels, and Germany.
Today, his work is considered an important contribution to the so-called “Lost Generation.”
