1976–1981 Studied painting and stage design in Moscow Since 1995 Living and working in Germany Since 1999 Member of the BBK Landesverband Schleswig-Holstein (State Association of Artists and Art Collectors) Since 2004 Member of the Künstlerbund Rendsburg-Eckernförde (Artists’ Association)
The artist executes her canvas works with confident brushstrokes. She skillfully exploits all the possibilities offered by the color spectrum. As a result, her works exude a powerful emotional aura and fascination at first glance. The brushwork, executed in a wide variety of techniques, is full of energy and at the same time highly subtle. A strong green, directly combined with deep blue tones, blends with earthy, radiant red tones to form a shape or a space. Nuanced and subtly applied color transparencies open up further structures, allowing the viewer to immerse themselves in the picture. Here, one senses the artist’s early training as a stage designer. She creates her world with just a few areas of color. The expressive application of color is a consistent feature of her work and thus the artist’s unmistakable trademark.

The artist’s works are always more than they appear at first glance. Upon repeated viewing, fragments of figures emerge; for example, one discovers another face or a hand connecting to a body.
Thus, references are hidden in the pictures that we can decipher as we look at them. In “Der nette Begleiter” (The Nice Companion), for example, we first see the image of a young woman who appears to us bathed in light. Only upon closer inspection do we recognize the figure of a wolf next to her, its movement, its gaze accompanying the woman. And so interwoven in color that a new togetherness and unity emerges.
Larissa Strunowa shows us the souls, the characters of her motifs. Man, woman, child, or dancer… it is always the human being and the inner state associated with them that she shows us. Body and spirit, in ever new discoveries.
Figurative representation, energetic physicality, and the observation of nature are central components of her motifs.
The representation of nature, awareness, reflection on what nature gives us, the perception of the beauty that surrounds us and which we enjoy, is an important motif in the artist’s work.
Her works radiate a sense of calm and direct presence, allowing us to let our eyes and souls wander as we view them. In this way, the artist’s images give us something important: time to contemplate.
